File Preparation

When preparing files for labels please adhere to the following rules and recommendations to ensure your job will not run into any additional expenses or time delays.

File Checklist

Page Layout
• File/page size should be correct for label size being ordered
• Include all fonts used in your artwork or outline fonts if no alterations are required
• Minimum bleed of .125" if bleed is required
• Proofread all files

Images
• Include images that are placed or nested in your page layout or application
• All images placed in artwork should be grayscale or CMYK and be at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi
• Use 1200 dpi for bitmap line art
• Place all scans at 100% or smaller (never enlarge images)
• Rotate, scale and crop all images in an image editing application before placing them into a page layout program
• Process graphics must be in CMYK - not RGB
• Save all graphics files in TIFF or EPS format, not in JPG PICT or GIF

Additionally
• Please include a printout or PDF file for proofing and verification purposes
• Ensure any spot colours are referenced in the application or on the file if required

 

 

Recommended applications and file formats

We recommend all artwork is created using one of the following applications if possible:
• QuarkXPress
• InDesign
• Illustrator
• Freehand
• Coreldraw
• Photoshop

We do not recommend using the following software to create artwork for labels:
• Microsoft Word
• PowerPoint
• Publisher
